If you are not able to attend the opening evening, please visit the library during their open hours. The Light and Darkness show will be on display until February 2, 2011.

Know Your Winter Birds - Sat Dec 4th

Join Michael Dunn at the Church House, December 4, 2010 for a fun and hands-on workshop on identifying birds.

This session will focus on those bird species that winter on and around Mayne Island.

Michael will provide participants with the basic skills and techniques for improving observations of birds and increasing abilities to identify them.

The workshop will be part indoors and part outdoors so please bring appropriate outdoor clothing.

Session starts at 1 pm and will end around 4 pm. Also please bring your most used bird identification guide, paper and pens. Look for posters on the event.

Grief and the Holidays - Wed Dec 1

Mental Health on Mayne Committee presents

Coping with The Holiday Season

Christmas, like so many special occasions can produce many anxious and painful feelings for grieving people.  Many have little energy to do any activity and wonder how they will get through.  On December 1st, at 1pm, come to the Agricultural Hall for a short talk on grief, loss and practical tips for managing the holidays.  Come to share your thoughts and questions with others who are grieving or wanting to help those in grief.

Presenter: Margaret Fletcher, RCC. Margaret is a Registered Clinical Counsellor on staff at Delta Hospice Society and is part of the Community Palliative Consultation Team with Fraser Health Authority in the Delta Community.  She also has had a family cabin on Mayne since 1960.
